Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Balyasora is a community-led evening school initiative that provides literacy, numeracy, and life skill education to children from ethnic and underserved communities living in remote areas. Classes run for 90 minutes in the evening, six days a week.

Children between the ages of 5 and 17 years can attend Balyasora schools. We welcome students from government, private, and venture schools, as well as dropouts who wish to rejoin learning in a supportive environment.

The first Balyasora school is located in Sonapur village in the Mazbat area of Udalguri district, Assam. More schools are being planned, including a new one in Majuli.

Our teachers are local youth from the same communities—college students or senior school students—who volunteer or work as part-time tutors. This makes learning more relatable and culturally relevant for the children.

We focus on essential subjects including:

  • English
  • Assamese
  • Mathematics
  • Science

Additionally, we include life skills, storytelling, fun games, and motivational sessions to keep learning enjoyable and impactful.

No. Balyasora schools are completely free of cost for all students. This initiative is funded through CSR efforts and supported by community volunteers.
