Balyasora is not just a project — it’s a movement. What began as a humble effort to bring education to a few has now touched the lives of hundreds across Assam. With each passing month, we witness brighter smiles, stronger communities, and a growing belief in the power of education.
What makes Balyasora different is the foundation of community participation. Through three core committees – Matri Gut, Gaon Samity, and Xoikhik Samity – every village takes ownership of their children’s future. It’s not just about learning; it’s about building a better tomorrow, together.
The intervention of Balyasora Foundation in areas like Udalguri and Majuli has gradually instilled a strong sense of responsibility among parents towards their children’s education. Earlier, many parents were indifferent about regular attendance, often allowing their children to skip evening classes. However, with consistent engagement and awareness sessions, parents have now begun to ensure that their children attend classes every day without fail.
“Before, we didn’t think missing a day would matter. But now, we make sure our children never miss class because we can see how much they are learning,”
Through the introduction of life skill sessions, children have started adopting better hygiene and cleanliness practices. Previously, many used to come to class unbathed, wearing soiled clothes. With regular life-skill discussions and teachers’ guidance, they have become more conscious about their personal hygiene. Teachers have observed visible changes — students now come to class well-groomed and take pride in their appearance.

One of the most remarkable impacts of the Balyasora Foundation’s initiative has been the renewed spirit of unity and collective responsibility within the community. The Foundation’s approach — involving parents, local leaders, and teachers — has created a shared goal: education for every child. People who once remained passive are now actively volunteering, helping organize classes, maintaining learning spaces, and motivating others to join.

The community teachers have shown remarkable growth in their professional journey. With the support and guidance of the Foundation, they have learned to use digital tools such as Google Meet and online attendance sheets — platforms that were once unfamiliar to them. This digital literacy not only enhances their teaching efficiency but also boosts their confidence. Despite challenges like poor network connectivity, teachers remain motivated and eager to learn.
