Our core initiative—after-school classes in remote areas—has brought structured learning to many children who were previously out of school. These sessions, held in community halls and nearby schools, offer more than just textbooks; they build confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning. The joy on children’s faces as they sing, read, and write speaks volumes about the difference being made.
We regularly organise tutor meet-ups and training sessions where local educators come together to learn new teaching methods, exchange experiences, and build a network of support. These workshops are not only about upskilling but also about creating a shared purpose—to transform education from within the community.
Our work doesn’t end with the children. We engage with parents through community meetings and informal discussions to ensure they understand the value of education. Many parents, who themselves never had formal schooling, now take pride in seeing their children attend classes regularly. This trust-building is key to sustaining our mission.
In the scenic yet isolated river island of Majuli, our Lachon center has become a ray of hope for young learners. With no easy access to schools, many children in this region had never stepped into a classroom. Balyasora’s initiative here introduced community-based evening classes that now cater to over 35 students. Our local tutors work closely with the children, helping them learn basics and dream beyond their surroundings. This project has sparked enthusiasm not only among students but also their families and elders.
Located in a predominantly tribal region, our Mazbat center began with a handful of students and a passionate tutor. Today, the center has grown into a vibrant learning space where more than 40 children gather daily to study, interact, and express themselves. The Mazbat initiative focuses on reintegrating out-of-school children back into learning. It has also become a platform for local youth to engage in meaningful community service through teaching and mentoring.
The Matri Gut in Lachon is formed by dedicated mothers from the local community who have taken it upon themselves to ensure that every child attends class regularly. They provide emotional support, encourage children to stay motivated, and serve as the first point of contact for issues affecting student attendance or well-being.
This group of community elders and volunteers is responsible for maintaining the learning environment. From securing the classroom space to managing logistics like electricity and cleanliness, they ensure that the center remains welcoming and functional for both students and teachers.
The Xoikhik Samity is made up of individuals passionate about education. They monitor the overall teaching quality, keep track of student learning, and provide guidance to tutors. Their close involvement helps maintain a strong academic foundation for the children of Majuli.
Balyasora is a CSR initiative by Pride East Entertainments Pvt. Ltd., committed to bringing quality education to underprivileged ethnic communities across Assam. We believe every child deserves a chance to learn and grow.
